Didn’t I Treat You Right, Now
The party was a blast. I loved every second that I can remember of it! Shayne and I were feeling pretty rough Sunday morning, after getting far too much into the swing of things, if you know what I mean, at the Don Chambers/Star Room Boys show at Tasty World Saturday night, but it was so awesome so I AM NOT SORRY! We called poor Jason and harrassed him just to make ourselves feel better. Me: “We’re still drunk!” Shayne: “We had no business going out to that show!” Me: “None!!” Shayne: “I can barely stand up and I’m skewering fruit for god’s sake!” Me: “Damn I wish you were here Jason, I’d make you lift this pot of beans.” Shayne: “We’re gonna get a picture of you and set it by the speaker phone so you can come to the party too.” Poor guy. Poor us! Luckily, we rebounded after showers and got all the food going just fine. My mac & cheese turned out pretty good. Beans were overcooked and I not worth eating, but the banana pudding was a hit. The South Carolina boys brought duck and cooked it up on my new grill, and it was delicious. Ava Ruth was the hit of the party, as usual, along with the less active but just as cute Ruby Kate. I got sloshed and way too happy, and had a wonderful time. You should see the bruises!
Life is good. I am having folks over this evening to finish off the rest of the beer and food.
The Georgia Theatre got repainted and I think it looks great. I hated that mural on the side.
Today I’m obsessed by these songs:
Didn’t I by Darondo (Listen to it here – it is THE JAM)
China Girl by David Bowie
Ain’t No Sunshine by Bill Withers
Ball & Chain by Martha Wainwright
Never As Good As The First Time and The Sweetest Taboo by Sade
I Don’t Know Enough About You by Peggy Lee
I’m Ready by The Twilight Singers
The Pretender by Foo Fighters
Affair of the Heart by Rick Springfield
Each and every one of these songs means something to me today. Terrifying, ain’t it? Be careful what you wish for, indeed.
Oh yes – here’s your WTF of the day, thanks to my little brother:

Love those phone calls. Much hilarity always ensues.
Fucking missed the pudding and mac again. Damn!
Ain’t no Sunshine is a badass song

I think China Girl might be the best song of the 80’s: Awesome bass line, cool guitar riff AND solo, David Bowie laying down some sweet lyrics, especially the “Oh, baby, just you shut your mouth” and “Shhhhh”. I mean, how fucking cool can a song get, really?
